Sounds of the Islands

After a long hiatus for college coursework, Pacific Dreamland returns with more beautiful sounds of the islands.  Today's music selection is another beautiful piece from

LYRICS

Do you remember, that cozy summer night
Back In september, how the moon It was so right
And that moment still lingers In my mind

Sitting alone yeah, reminiscing of that night
You're lip's on mine, the gleaming In you're eyes
That special feeling still linger's In my mind

It's the way I feel about you, everytime I hold you In my arms
I could never live without you, girl you know that you're the only one
And forever I'll hold you In my heart

Tell me you remember, When you came and sat so close to me
Could you hear my heart whisper, telling you that you are all I need
A glimpse of your smile tells me this was meant to be yeah

It's the way I feel about you, everytime I hold you In my arms
I could never live without you, girl you know that you're the only one
And forever I'll hold you In my heart

Love Is a blessing, oh that comes once In life
Some take It for granted, oh but not this love of mine
She's someone I'll treasure for the rest of my life

It's the way I feel about you, everytime I hold you In my arms
I could never live without you, girl you know that you're the only one
And forever I'll hold you In my heart

It's the way I feel, It's the way I feel, It's the way I feel about you....

Island Inspirations

It is time for a new recurring theme that I am calling "Island Inspirations".  This theme will include all of the little island influences that may appear in even the most unlikely of places. Today's post is about a palm tree that is made out of silverware.

Sounds of the Islands

Today's featured artist here on Pacific Dreamland is Iakopo.  Iakopo was born in California in 1980 and then moved to Samoa when he was a teenager.  When he was in Maui, he met his manager and became famous recording music in Japan.

Today's song is "When I See You Smile".... no this is not a remix of an overplayed pop song which you are now likely thinking about.  Below is the tune for your listening pleasure:

Mulligans of Paradise

It is time FORE Pacific Dreamland to emerge from another unexpected silence.  What better way to accomplish this task then a little "name that tune in the trees".  I am referring to, a course that is in the middle of a jungle setting on Oahu, The Royal Hawaiian.  A round here is $155 plus the cost of about 20 golf balls to complete the round.  The course is located in Kailua with serene views of the Ko'olau Mountains. Below is the course in action:

Phil Everly

On the way back from Florida, I first learned about the passing of Phil Everly on the news.  The Everly Brothers began their careers as songwriters in the 1950's.  One of their big hits was "Wake Up Little Susie". "Wake Up Little Susie" tells a story of falling asleep on a movie date and then they realize when they wake up that it's after midnight.  The story line was widely deemed as too suggestive when it first released and they had troubles with this song being banned.  What more can I say besides that it is amazing how the times have changed?  Below is their hit song "Wake Up Little Susie":

Previously on Pacific Dreamland, a cover of their classic "All I Have To Do Is Dream" by Pati was posted in "Island Remixes Week".  Today, in honor of Phil Everly, we take a look at another influence that the Everly Brothers had on Polynesian music.

Bye Bye Love was first released in 1957.  Both the original and Ekolu's ukulele cover of this classic can be heard below.
